World Triathlon Champs

Hamburg

31st August 2007

Dave Glossy got the bronze in his age group in the sprint event and Jamie Hawthorne was 8th in his category. Duncan McLaren was 15th in V40-45. Corinne Price was 9th in her category (report below).

Report provided by Corinne Price:

Swim

Corinne Price had a good swim - was 8th out of the water in 26.58 and fastest Britain in her age group. Transition was rumoured to be around 800m long, so 5mins or so later she started the bike in 7th position.

Bike

She enjoyed the ride 1:20:45 (despite both the dog leg through the world famous Reeperbahn, with the potential to distract, and the wind on the way out). She gradually got picked off and finished the bike in 25th position. She recovered a couple of places in t2.

Run

It was then a case of survival! She went round slightly out of her comfort zone to complete the run in 52.46 finally overtaking a girl from the USA in a sprint for 32nd place.
Luckily she mistook the red funnel for the finish line so she pipped her at the post! Finished in 2.48.58, 9th Brit out of the team of 20 so had a great day!
