Team-Keyne Trek is based in Milton Keynes and has become
one of the most successful youth cycling squads in the country. They were
founded in 1997 by Bob Varney as Youth Development Squad for the parent club
Team MK. From the start, the club embraced the concept that all cycling
disciplines should be found within one club.
Team-Keyne Trek provides a gateway into cycling competition through its
'Trek Youth Challenge', which runs on Wednesday evenings at Milton Keynes
Bowl, from April to August each year. This provides a number of different
activities for U6s through to U16s that are both fun, and seek to improve
the cycling skills of those involved. These include skills tests and
mountain bike, road and time trial sessions, all of which take place in the
traffic-free arena of the MK Bowl. There is a £1 entrance fee per session,
and the club finishes the series with prizes and awards for participants.
