Road Race Round Up, 15 - 16 March 2008
Niall Frost and Mike Wragg contested the final round of the Team MK Season Starter series at the Bowl on Saturday.
The race panned out with particularly “cat and mouse” tactics, giving mountain biker Niall valuable criterium experience. Thanks mainly to their elbows, Mike and Niall secured 3rd and 11th respectively in the bunch sprint finale.
Paul Londors and Mike Wragg then lined up for the Hounslow RR on Sunday, with a ferocious-looking field of top names. Line-outs, lashing wind and rain were the order of the day, and Mike’s race was cut short after 50 miles when he was brought down by a crash in front of him whilst in a budding escape move. Paul’s aim of having a high-quality training race was achieved, which should benefit his form later in the season.
Andy Bye of Sigma Sport stole the win with an attack with three miles to go on the short finishing circuit.
