FNSS MTB Race at Sibbertoft, Friday 9th May

Friday evening saw the first round of the Friday Night Summer Series at the off roading centre at Sibbertoft, just North of Northampton. The circuit, a mixture of man made gravel obstacles and wooded singletrack, was dry, fast and dusty and seemed to suit the TMKers with Lee taking 2nd overall, Steve Torley making the top 10, Claire Yearby second lady and Rob Chaundy third Grand Vet.

First race of the series and there were 100 plus on the start line in  brilliant sunshine. I was caught napping and only made it to the first corner in about 10th place. so I fell into line and took place after place in the limited  areas that you could pass. By the end of the lap I had moved up to 2nd but it took too long to get there and the leader had dissapeared so I settled down to drop the 2 other riders that were keeping me close company. The  course was really fast once you had the space to ride and I dropped these riders over the next 2 laps, ending up settling for 2nd riding steady for the next 4 laps ..... some good points towards the series.
