TT Squad action... UPDATE

The TMK TT Squad have been making the headlines recently in open events around the country with in form Jason Gurney just missing out on a sub 20 minute 10 mile time on 2 consecutives rides!!!

In the Bath CC open 10 on the Cirencester Bypass 2 weeks ago, sole TMK rider Jason recorded a PB of 20:03 to get a fine 2nd place.

The following week, 4 squad members made the long journey down to Andover to the ultra fast P613 10 mile course with great expectations. Averaging over 31 mph to the turn, all concerned were looking at smashing their PB's, but it was not to be, as there was a slight head wind on the return leg... However, fine times were recorded by all, with again an impressive 20:08 from Jason to clinch 3rd, with Simon Cannings 20:37 and Mark Simmons just a single second behind with 20:38 to get 9th and 10th places respectively out of the 180 field. The quick times were enough to earn the trio the team award also.

Ian Marshall riding his first open event after turning vet, recorded a 'mildly' pleasing seasons best of 21:17 on the same course to get 11th overall in the vet section and more importantly break the club 10 mile TT vet record of 22:22 set by Fred Edwards in 2006.

Fred was also in action last Saturday in the Bossard Wheelers open 10 mile TT on the Leighton Buzzard Bypass - the sole TMK rider. On what was a very warm afternoon, he recorded a course PB of 22:51 to finish just in the top 10.

In Tuesday's annual Bicester Millenium CC open 10m  2up TTT on the windswept Weston-on-the Green Airfield, riders were faced with very gusty conditions with TMK hoping to repeat last year's victory of Jason Gurney and Simon Cannings. This year Jason was paired with an in form Mark Simmons, but despite their quick time of 21:19, this was only good enough for 2nd place, being pipped by the Sigma Sport Team who ducked below the 21 minute barrier with 20:38. Ian Marshall and new member Helen Boatman repeated there mixed win of last year with 23:20 and 8th overall to beat their nearest rivals by just under a minute.

Next open TT outing for the Squad is this Saturday's Lampard CC 10m TT, again on the F12/10 (Leighton Bazzard Bypass), first rider off 15:01 hrs...
