Michelle Gander Reports From the Marazion

Marazion Middle distance Triathlon - 1.9km swim, 85km bike, 21km run

Only 3 Team MK members made the long trip to Marazion in Cornwall this year having to return the team trophy won last year – duly engraved and polished – with no hope of winning it again.

An early start to find a spot in transition but with only 120 odd competitors it wasn’t too much trouble.

Saturday had been very rainy so waking in the morning to only a drizzle that stopped by the bike section was good news; however, it was still a bit windy.

The swim started on the beach opposite St Michael’s Mount with a run into the pancake flat and clear sea for the swim. There was a bunch of ¾ out of the water a good few minutes before the main bunch with a long transition run up the beach, across a car park and road before getting to T1.

T1 took a while for most people as they put on combinations of warmer clothes!

The bike went west to Land’s End and nearly back to the start before the 2nd lap and then back into T2. By this time the weather had warmed up a bit and it was getting hot on the run.

The run was flat as it was the path along the beach up to Penzance and back again 3 times. All three Team MK members had a good race:
